That explains a whole lot. aptitude unhold has never worked for me in
Etch (out of a guestimated 10 situations in which it would have been
useful). I recommend the work-around, although it has the unfortunate
side-effect of losing the Automatically installed status of the
package. Such is life.

hibernation (suspend2disk) does also not work.
Black screen after he loads the image from the disk.
By the way, i use kde4 menu to suspend etc.
I think kde is using pm-utils to do that.
