The ttf file changed with the switch to the font files included in lyx which
are now in the ttf-lyx package so the originally attached file can't be
used.
Upstream is unsure how to correctly clone the missing brake in the current
file so this has to rest for some more

I re-installed libncurses5 version 5.7+20100313-2 from Debian unstable
and the problem did not re-occur, so it appears that the shared library
file on my hard disk had become corrupted.
