I have been bitten by this one, although in a slightly different
context (using Sage's Maxima). Symptoms identical : a very short TeX
file, sorely lacking any references to any LaTex package, and
systematic failure.

Hello there,
my simple-tpm-pk11 package is threatened by a removal of testing because of
the trousers FTBFS. So here comes a patch proposal (from an upstream patch over
at
https://sourceforge.net/p/trousers/trousers/ci/c9b8c4434f3b11bae4f7e72c3aec5b4f3459eecc/
).
I was able to build the source package on my computer and install it, but I
still receive the same error message when trying to load compound datasets.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
