performance with Sid's version drops down on kernel 2.6.33rcX to about

Hello,
I had a similar problem on a system here. It had a custom .rules file to
set fixed name of the interfaces (which was needed to solve the old
Schroedinger interface game in ?2007?). The problem was gone after I
renamed the custom file to be sorted after the 70-persistent-net.rules
in the lex
