As Debian SID became unusable for an extended period of time
I also just ran into this problem after upgrading a private gallery
installation from 2.3 to the 2.3.1 package...
All seems to work well besides the upload applet (and interface localisation,
but that's another issue...).
Any progress on this one, Gallery seems to be more or less unmaintained
Mh, the applets / JARs are simply not included in the .deb, no wonder it
cannot find its main class...
Copying the files from the older 2.3-.deb seems to work as a temporary
workaround...
I do not want to think about the whole thing from a security point-of-view,
however...

paticular configuration, Linux 2.6.30 seems to completely fix the

Ok, I took some time to play with Amarok and think I nailed the cause
down.
The problem seems to be related to the Amarok module of the Universal
Sidebar. If this mdoule is loaded, and the volume control in Amarok is
not set to 0, Amarok restarts if I request it to quit.
