I crudely measured, using top(1) and a sampling period of 0.5 s, that
g++ uses as much as 474 Mb of virtual memory when compiling the
largest file in monotone (revision.cc). That might explain why g++
seems to have run out of memory on two different arm machines,
smackdown and cats.

When I said there's a memory leak, that's not technically true. What
happens is that ACPI events get piled up in a queue and never
processed, due to a deadlock in

Could it be that you use mawk? On my machine, where the build works, I
have both gawk and mawk, but gentexifiles chooses gawk. OTOH, you
should have gawk too, as libtemplates-parser build-depends on quilt
which depends on gawk.

Now that the buildds have picked up Packages-arch-specific, I am almost
ready to upload libgtkada2 2.8.1, which fixes this bug. I'll do asis,
libxmlada2 and libaws first, though.
