Severity: important
Currently 38_scripts__mysqld_safe.sh__signals.dpatch adds features to
mysqld_safe to attempt to support traps for mysqld_safe.
Unfortunately, it's implementation is not proper. Here's the scenario that
actually happens:
1)
Package: abcde
Version: 2.3.99.6-1
Severity: normal
in the script there is an environment variable used like this:
if [ $USEPIPES = y ]; then
REDIR=
else
REDIR=2
fi
ls /dev/null $REDIR
the indirect redirection in REDIR does not work: if the test on
USEPIPES fails,
of is wrong :/ )

, there would be no point in applying this patch,
imho.
I can understand that for the version in testing.
However, I also experienced it with the stable version. For that I think
it is good to document here and maybe have it fixed (don't know how the
rules are about this).

Applying the patch solved the problem here.
I experienced the problem with the current samba version in stable and testing.

One thing I didn't notice before is that the problem I described only
happens if the source folder is the inbox (my usual early morning task: move
undetected spam from the inbox to the pending-spam folder). Moving messages
between any other folders works just fine.
