gnome-shell did start with --replace from a terminal, but won't start at
login using the Ubuntu package (which isn't really that surprising). So
I do think the problem is in libgjs0b, but using the Ubuntu package as a
temporary replacement isn't a work-around.

Having the same issue on my testing box. Postinst hangs at Stopping
MySQL server. It does this even after completely uninstalling and
purging mysql-server-5.0 and installing again fresh. Syslog and dpkg
