Bug#622761: kernel upgrade trashes X display

2011-05-15 Thread Steve Kleene
I can no longer reproduce the bug. I ran "apt-get install xorg", got all the new packages, and brought up X windows with no problem. These are the same packages that correlated with the problem a month ago, but for whatever reason everything is fine now. Thanks. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to

Bug#622761: kernel upgrade trashes X display

2011-04-16 Thread Steve Kleene
I submitted this bug and now believe I identified the wrong package. I have fixed my display by undoing these upgrades: xorg 1:7.5+8 1:7.6+6 xserver-xorg 1:7.5+8 1:7.6+6 which also restored the older versions of 37 other xserver-xorg packages. Those are now being held back by apt-get upgrade

Package: linux-image-2.6.38-2-686 Version: 2.6.38-3 Severity: I am not certain if linux-image-2.6.38-2-686 is the cause of the problem that follows. Two weeks ago I successfully installed Wheezy (testing) on an Intel Pentium 4 with a Sony Trinitron CPD-G400 monitor. Three days ago I installed t

Package: installation-reports Severity: Part 1: failure to install from CD (similar to bug #602380) I've failed to do a fresh netinst of Squeeze from a CD on a new desktop. The install hangs during "Select and install software". I looked at console 4 while it was hanging and saw 8-line kernel

Bug#407228: (no virtual terminals with fresh etch install)

2007-04-29 Thread Steve Kleene
This problem has been solved, and it was not a bug. I just noticed that my keyboard has a key labeled "F Lock". If I toggle that key, the function keys are interpreted correctly and I am able to bring up virtual terminals as expected. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subje

Bug#407228: no virtual terminals with fresh etch install

2007-01-16 Thread Steve Kleene
Package: console-data Version: 2:1.01-6 Sorry, I'm only guessing which package is responsible for this. I just did a fresh Debian etch install on a new desktop using the testing- i386-netinst CD (Official Snapshot i386 Binary-1 (2006)). I cannot bring up the usual virtual terminals 1-6 (e.g.
