I tried in a 32 bits jail and it works. Further I forced the install
of the i386.deb and fixed the missing libraries in /emul/ia32-linux/
and I found that it works as well.

Severity: wishlist
In despite of reporting on a i386 machine, I am pleasure to inform you I
was able to run replicator on an amd64 machine running etch. A few fixes
should be applied though. I downloaded the i386 version from etch and
installed on amd64
Package: replicator
Version: 3.1-sarge-1.6
Severity: important
After a successful instalation using replicator and asking for not
copying root, I tried repli-sync on the clone machine. It copies /root
from the model. I also tried explicitely writing
@slash_exclude=qw(/root); on
Package: replicator
Version: 3.1-sarge-1.6
Severity: important
tar on etch does not take --wildcards as default breaking
repli-bootdisk. Including --wildcards on /usr/sbin/repli-bootdisk does
the job. In addition, I kept the line as
dosystem(cd $dir ; tar zxvf
Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-386
Version: 2.6.8-13
Severity: normal
The soundcard atiixp is correctly detected and the module is loaded but
/dev/{dsp,mixer} are not created. It is a 2.6.8-alsa problem. Compiling
new alsa sources fixes the problem. It is also fixed on 2.6.11 from sid.

Hello,
I will close the bug report now, because the bug is not reproducible and
the reporter does not respond.
Sorry for not responding earlier. I have found that is a KDE-related
problem. In a recent update the problem has been solved.
Thanks,
