This issue affected me as well, and thanks a lot for a quick work-
around.
Just in case anyone else is having the additional problems that I had,
where apt update wanted to reinstall the unmodified after I applied the
workaround above: I needed to do the following in addition:
dpkg --configure -a
lient and server happening in sync.
The Snap allows us to move more quickly, which suits this specific project.

this is OK for me, Because Upstream (ESR) changed programming language to "GO"
recently (3.0.0) and this is not my cup of tea.
I decided to orphan it, but popcorn count is low, so it should be removed.
