I have the same issue. Not sure the problem is with the kernel package though,
because even purging and/or reinstalling linux-image-4.18.0-3 fails (see
below). Any suggestion which package may be responsible? The problem started
after a dist-upgrade on Dec 24...

fine since years. Of the packages pinentry-gnome3 depends on, I
have only upgraded recently libgpg-error0, libncursesw6, libtinfo6.
Even downgrading libgpg-error0 to 1.32-1 does not fix the issue.
I am clueless, but willing to help to find the culprit...

Tiziano, did you try with 9.1 kernel as suggested? Actually, you could
try 10.0~rc from unstable
for a module that was not
present in kfreebsd before, so the probability of breaking something
else along the way seems pretty small. And, the module sources are
BSD licensed, so no problems with that either ;)

have the machine up and running with linux debian amd64, so I

As reported by Yaroslav Halchenko, mdp fails to import if python-pp
is installed but pp server fails to start. This can happen if the
machine is low on memory for example.
The bug is grave because mdp FTBFS ona
seed no test is failing
on the maintainer machine, no test should fail on the buildbots.
I already implemented the fix, and will try to find a sponsor to upload the
fixed package in the next days...
