Maybe you can come up with an enhanced patch which gracefully deals with the
non-existance of eatmydata, so we can turn the depends into a recommends
without annoying people who dont install recommends...

I know this won't work on Ubuntu (where eatmydata isn't in main, so
debootstrap can't install it), but I can improve it to handle that
better). It can be installed after enabling universe in the chroot, and
we can also not run it if it isn't installed in
Package: piuparts

Attached patch addresses TODO item re libeatmydata ..
- use libeatmydata - either install it in all chroots or find a
better way to use it.
With Squeeze release, the version of dpkg in stable has had an option
--force-unsafe-io
