I just bought a new (used) Thinkpad T520. I thought laptop-mode-tool was
working, but on closer inspection they were not. I too had the same
issue when using a docking station.

Dear Maintainer,
I notice a problem that laptop-mode does not switch to battery-mode when
removing my Lenovo T430 from dock. It does when plug/unplug the power cable
directly.
