Same issue on Cinnamon. There is more description of what is going on
in bug #803165, but I believe I have a simple workaround for now,
which might also work for Gnome/KDE/etc...
mkdir -p ~/.local/share/applications
cp /usr/share/applications/iceweasel.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/
editor
Same issue on KDE.
As John said, the icons in /usr/lib/iceweasel/browser/chrome/icons/default
have changed.
Opening them with an image viewer clearly shows they're only the top-left
corner of a bigger icon.
Please rename this bug to remove the MATE specificity.
The icons in /usr/lib/iceweasel/browser/chrome/icons/default/ have been
changed.
