Hi, upstream MATE developer here.
It's been a while, and MATE 1.16 is now in Unstable and Testing,
with various fixes for GTK+ 3.22 support. I can't reproduce this
bug now. Do you still see it? If it's so, which view (icon view or
list view) and which themes can be used
