Hi,
ah, so it seems this is fixed in openjdk-8 from stable-security
now since
https://lists.debian.org/debian-security-announce/2019/msg00054.html
See e.g.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=911925#144 ff.
and the security team confirms this.

Rene
Hi there !
I am running stretch. I had blacklisted update 8u181-b13-2~deb9u1
because the bug made it useless as build JDK, and got update
8u212-b01-1~deb9u1, which as far as I can see fixes the problem.
So as long as the last security version 8u212-b01-1~deb9u1 we do have
a usable last openjdk-8
Does this mean you're leaving stable stuck with the version broken by
the update (after applying the first patch but not the followup)? ):

I'd also be very happy about a fix in stable.
Kind regards,
Bastian
Would be a nice X-Mass present to get a working jdk version in stable.

OpenJDK 10 is affected as well.

Which is probably the reason it works in OpenJDK 11, considering.
This answers a part

We have encountered this bug with the latest security patch level as well.
cheers

We discovered this bug as well and it is indeed the result of the patch
applied in S8195874.
To be precise the patch is here:
https://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk/jdk/rev/27135de165ac
But upstream OpenJDK applied a follow-up:
https://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk/jdk/rev/f54dcfc5a5f8
The second patch

This looks like a problem with this patch:
- S8195874: Improve jar specification adherence.
That also introduced a new property
"jdk.net.URLClassPath.disableClassPathURLCheck". I suspect the check

As the ant build error was unrelated (likely a version problem,
eventually killing the "build" folder to force a clean rebuild helped),
reducing to "important" again.
Nevertheless, several users have observed this build problem with Maven
surefire. While it

Grave because this causes odd errors in various Java compilation tasks,
and possibly in some Java applications, to make sure this version
doesn't easily enter testing.
Apparently this upload causes various build problems in particular with
Maven (surefire) but
I found this bug today, too. My workaround was to set 'useSystemClassLoader'
to 'false', adding this to the pom.xml:
org.apache.maven.plugins
maven-surefire-plugin

false
With openjdk-8-jdk version 8u181-b13-1~deb9u1 the project compiled just fine.

Dear Maintainer,
After upgrading OpenJDK8 to version 8u181-b13-2~deb9u1, compiling a project
with Maven makes Surefire crashes with the following error:
