xtel uses dh_installxfonts without using the ${misc:Depends} substvar,
so it's missing a dependency on xfonts-utils.
This means that upgrades from sarge can fail, because the postinst uses
update-fonts-dir --x11r7-layout, which doesn't exist

about three years ago, you reported a bug on the Debian xbase-clients
package, about an xkbcomp segfault. Do you still experience this?
If not, or if we don't get an answer, I'm going to close this bug report
