This filesystem is absolutely correct, yet the fsck.vfat tries to fix
it. If I let fsck.vfat fix the filesystem, all files residing after
certain treshold in the file system are truncated and shown as lost

This is caused by the Makefile.in in the package being out-of-date relative
to the configure.in and aclocal.m4 files that are patched in the Debian
