Hi,
Here's a patch that I stole from ffmpeg CVS that appears to fix things.
However, the build of VLC (which is what I did this for) is still broken
in different ways:

Sorry, I was a bit too hasty.
Current gcc is quite some time in the archive already, so it's unlikely
it's at fault. Binutils, OTOH, has seen a recent upload. Downgrading it
to the previous version indeed fixes the segfault issues.
This is just a note to check that stable is still vulnerable to the
exploits fixed in -2. I have added a found tag to this bug for sarge's
version - if that is wrong, pleae remove it and chastise me
appropriately :)

my choices, the entire list of subscribed groups is deleted and replaced
with the new selection. This makes it impossible to add one
