it seems that without more info (unless you are able to get some
hardware to reproduce this to someone who wants to debug this, but you
don't seem to live near Bonn, Germany ;) ), we would have difficulties
to fix this bug.
Could you try to build a debug-enabled package and get a

Interesting enough: The symptom is similar to the system behaviour, if
nslcd is _not_ running.

Afer Dam's last mail we tried a few things, coordinating via IRC. The
tests showed that the FTBFS in the test suite happen reproducibly
with parallel builds and don't occur with non-parallel builds. That's
why we finally decided to disable running the tests in parallel for
the time being.
Cheers,

I just hope lenny gets released soon. This has gotten annoying. :)
Do you have plans to get the Nvidia drivers into the release? Or are
they supposed to be sid-only nowadays?

Hi,
this bug is indeed serious: As fuse-utils does not depend on udev (but
on makedev | udev) it must not require udev. The problem does also
happen in usual dbootstrapped chroots.
I'm uploading version 2.7.4-1.1 with attached diff.
Kind regards
T.
