BD ISO to make sure the installer worked without an Internet connection.

Sure, go for it. Network wise, ftp.uio.no (aka ftp.uninett.no) is
closest to administrator.skolelinux.no. I guess it is smart to pick a
closeby mirror for speed.
We use debian-cd today. Which tool did you have in mind?
