I have just upgraded my system to current sid and suffer from

I have the same problem here. After upgrade (and reboot) the situation is the
following:
- I have no /etc/timezone file
- /etc/localtime is as attached
$ ls -al /etc/localtime
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1082 2007-06-25 06:53 /etc/localtime
$ md5sum /etc/localtime

always sticks to UTC as time. /etc/timezone got removed and I added it by
hand, but the machine still won't change to MET.
tzselect only prompts me to add a TZ env variable.

This is my first post here, so I hope I'm following the protocols

I've done a netinstall of etch 4.0r1 with amd64 architecture on
both a vmware system, and a real AMD Opteron system. (glibc
version 2.3.6.ds1-13etch2)
