Try looking in http://incoming.debian.org; that's where I fetched both
the gcc and the X packages (wgetting every package with 'hurd' on the
name).
BTW, that's http only AFAIK; I logged on with ftp and apart from two
almost empty dirs nothing appears to be there.

special fonts; I also had problems with two keys in the bottom left,
and that even with a portuguese keyboarf (strangely the german and
portuguese keymaps are the basicaly the same in non alphanumeric

worked (apparently after the floppy test it is the NIC init - or the
scsi init for those that have it).

problem is prolly because ldconfig doesn't work in the Hurd (er, or
something to that effect); you have to explicitly set the path to X libs.
Something like:
$export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/X11R6/lib
(better to put it on .bashrc)

Ehe, I can imagine... I always wanted to try GNU/Hurd, even in the

Yes, I have swap but I hand't turned it on at the time because it was
a fresh install and /etc/fstab wasn't updated.

I sure did, X runs, without mouse but it runs! I will prolly try to
