Hello,
I am trying to get KDE to run on Potato. First I tried downloading 2.2.2 and
the latest version of Qt 2.x. This gave me problems while compiling though.
So after searching around the web, I found the binary packages available at
kde.debian.net. I installed them, and they worked just fine

I run /etc/init.d/kdm start as root and it says
'done', but kdm doesn't run.
I can run gdm and kde just fine. I enabled verbose
logging for kdm and got
the following in syslog, but it doesn't tell me much.
All config files for kdm are the .deb defaults and all
kde packages are from

Hi,
I guess this is pretty obvious but I'm asking it anyway just to be
*really* sure: Are the libpng3 problems gone now? Will it hurt my
system if I install the libpng3 package (it is only now being pulled
in by the gs and libgtkxmhtml1 packages)?

Who is in charge of that page?
There are several things that I think should be there. At least the
following points should have info there. Something like the following.
Request 1:
Is there someone who will put the following up there?

Hi All,
Just new to the sig so hope this is not out of place.
Since subscribing I've noticed lots of mail re KDE with Woody and Sid but no
mention of Potato, the version of
Debian I run here for my amateur radio BBS.
Is it possible to run KDE with Potoato (2.2 r0)? If so, where should I go for
