it looks like akonadi was hindered or I hadn't akonadi running at this point.
Right now, after checking that either akonadi runs in the background or
properly starting it, everything works again. Thanks KDE-team!

When I try to reply to a message and click on the send button Kmail prompts
me for my password and then tries to send the email. I can see that it tries in
the toolbar but it keeps stuck at 0%.

A possible workaround might be doing a kde-micro package and have in
there core apps such as Dolphin,KMail, KWin,DragonPlayer,Konsole etc. but
keep Plasma Workspace and the Plasma Shell out of it.
Is that possible from a packaging point of view in any way?

its true that KWin is not actually configurable in this area. But as I am a
twinview user my self i havent found this failure apppearing on my screens.
You might consider updating the driver and configurator of your card.
I attached my xorg.conf generated with nvidia config tools.

Graphics driver as it is only appearing when KWin's compositing is running.
