I had completely misunderstood the purpose of the virtuoso server and mysql.
I have now installed mysql-server-5.1 to have access to mysql_install_db,
which allowed me to fix the problem as described in the earlier reply

I'm trying to use kaboom to copy my ~/.kde4 settings to ~/.kde,
now that KDE4 will use ~/.kde. I have over 4GB free space on my
/home partition, and ~.kde is only 190MB according to du.
However, kaboom claims that there is not enough free space
there was no change. So I guess this can be closed if the
patch will fix it for sure.

Sometimes the kde battery monitor doesn't appear in the systray, but in
the top left corner of the screen, This started happening to me after
the upgrade to kde 3.5.1. Sometimes it correctly appears in the systray,
