I use Debian Testing. Before today, my previous dist-upgrade was on May 28, at
which points all packages were up to date and KDE 5.4 was running smoothly.
Today (June 5) I again dist-upgrade my laptop and now KDE is very broken.

The packages seem to work well here (as of the debs available last night)
across two machines. The only minor issue is that the upgrade switched the
desktop activity on both machines. This was easily resolved by changing them
back to my customized 'Desktop' activity.

I just wanted to report that my 4.5 -> 4.6 upgrade on both my laptop and
desktop went well. Other than a little (documented) trouble with the
internationalization packages it 'just worked'.

I've been running the experimental Qt packages against KDE 4.4 and (now) 4.5.
I haven't tested vs the Digikam problem (blows dust off camera), but the only
thing I've noticed is that (evil) Fash in particular doesn't get clipped to
the viewport (or page boundaries, or whatever) in Konqueror over

Off the top of my head, there is kiconedit, for editing icons,
kolourpaint, as a simple paint program, and krita (now) as a fully
featured raster image editor... Each a different tool for a different

I went down the apt-build path, it worked well for me. That is a nice
little tool to use! I knew you could rebuild DEBs, but I'm a RPM

Interestingly enough, kde-3.4 apparently corrects this problem (or firefox 1.0.2). Discovered this when testing Ubuntu

3.2 to 3.2.1. I discovered
that by moving my .kde dir out of the way and letting KDE recreate it I
was able to fix it. I then just copied back the various application
dirs and config files. You could also test this theory by creating a
new user altogether and logging in as that user.
