I'd like to ask something so I either open a bug or investigate more in
my system (or in case that anyone knows more, if someone has fixed it).
I use LXDE with some KDE applications. Some applications such as
korganizer, kmix, akregator: in the task bar I have a generic LXDE icon

As it turns out it was neither kmix nor flat volume through pulse. It was
specifically Pidgin's notifications. I've switched notification audio
playback from "Automatic" to command and am simply using mplayer. Totally
works.

that loud speaker symbol in the system area of Kicker bar.
On several KDE installations including KDE 3.3.1/3.3.2 and KDE 3.4 pre on
every login the KMix window pops up. I did not yet found a way to stop this

I've had KMIX 3.1.5-1 for sometime now and it seems to me that KDE 3.2 having this
issue more than 3.1.5.
When I log in, the Kmix window is always open. Sometimes, I never even use Kmix at
all and this happens.

I installed KDE3.1 from debian-unstable...
I used the knewsticker- and kmix-kicker-applet in the previos release
from kde.org - and I like them :-)
But in the actual release I'm not able to find any packages
for these applet.
Are these applets no longer ingredients of KDE ?

The solution was to exit kmix and start it again. Rather embarrasing, although
it should have seen the mixer without restarting.

Live" or similar, displays "TriTech TR ?".
I think this is why in the kernel, emu10k1 loads AC97.

So I added some userers to group audio in /etc/group and now kmix works!

Kmix does not show any mixer devices here. I am using a SoundBlaster 16 card.
I can change my sound volume with artscontrol, but when I exit artscontrol
the sound is back at it's original volume.
I am using kde2.1 on potato now, but the problem was already there in
kde2.0.1. Wh
