After the latest unstable upgrade, I get the following when starting octave:

I thought this might have to do with libstdc++, so I downgraded to
libstdc++-2.10 from testing, with no luck.
Any ideas?

I've successfully done this in the past. XFree86 should work fine if you tell
it to use a serial mouse. You may have to construct a special adapter for
the serial port--IIRC, it's slightly different from a regular RS422-232
adapter.

I am shopping around for a new laptop and I think the new ibook looks

Power Mgt -- Are the power management functions (sleep, charging,

Here is the lasest output of apt-get update && apt-get upgrade. It seems
to be complaining about a Perl script, and will not go through with the
upgrade. This seems serious; how can I fix this? I have tried running
apt-get --reinstall on perl, perl-base and dpkg with no luck.

Aha, this is what I needed to know. In the past I had been unable to build
X due to a lack of disk space. So I built the drivers as per Vinod's
instructions, and everything appears to be working fine. Thanks for the

FWIW, I have my apt pointed at testing and woody, and I got libc
2.2-6 a couple weeks ago. Did you use apt-get dist-upgrade instead
of upgrade? dist-upgrade does a better job of sorting through the
dependencies.
