If you change 'auto_spawn=0' to 'auto_spawn=1' in /etc/esound/esd.conf, esd *should* be automagically started whenever an application wants to use it, without modification of your session startup files. (I haven't tested it, so I don't know if it works.) This worked. Thanks! If you set LD_P
