External monitor on ibook2

I've read lots of posts over the months about using m3mirror to get this to work. Everything I've tried leads to a display that is less than optimal, especially in X (wavy display or chopped off). All the posts I've read indicate this has NOT yet been solved. Has anyone had success getting
