Hi,
I also have this problem on and off. I have not yet been able to discern any
pattern. Sometimes it seems that starting certain applications (like the
Citrix ICA client, with an actual remote window open) brings it about; other
times, it seems like the system rolls dice on boot, and on unlucky

Version: 4:4.11.11-1
Followup-For: Bug #761996
Hi,
I also have the reported problem: no systemd, and sleep/hibernate options
are missing from KDE while pm-utils works.
Investing a few hours into bisecting the problem, I was able to narrow it
down to upgrading the following
utempter*
Perhaps the idea was to restrict access to the setgid utempter binary to
members of the utempter group? But then the directory permissions should be
0710 or similar.
If not, then having the utempter group seems pointless.

n help with shell scripting if that is called for. At
the moment I don't have a lot of time to get acquainted with new tools such
as genkdmconf and to think about how to best use them, but I guess I can
implement something you come up with.

may not help much in your case.
Well, if ucf can do a reasonable job of this, I'm sure we'll all be happy.
When do you think you'll be able to find out? Maybe someone with a better
understanding of ucf than either of us can provide advice?

generate kdmrc as it would look without kcm changes
2. diff with existing version; assume changes were made by kcm
3. propagate changes to kdmrc_kcm (a fourth config that takes precedence
over user, debian and upstream)
The problem is _when_ to do this. The kdm initscript seems like a reaso
kg ;)
I've seen ucf in action, and I don't see how it can be readily applied here,
or what its advantages over the proposed script would be. Do you have any
specific approach in mind?

in a later file override the ones in
earlier files (some grepping can do this). This would really make upgrades a
snap.
I'm willing, I guess, to implement the last proposal with the three groups
of files as a shell script; would you accept it?
