Hi,
We have a SUN 280R and Debian 3.0, kernel 2.4.19 and
need to compile iproute2. We try gcc-3.0 but I get a
linker problem:
/usr/bin/ld: warning: sparc:v9 architecture of input file
`../lib/libutil.a(ipx_ntop.o)' is incompatible with sparc output
/usr/bin/ld: BFD 2.12.90.0.1 20020307

Right, but is it actually impossible to boot it otherwise? I didn't
try very hard.

Well, do you know where I can get one of:

If you think you need ibcs2 because of instructions in the
(ultralinux?) FAQ, you don't. [It wasn't clear who
Hi,
Also as the kernel loads I am gettings lots of lost interrupt for my
HDD/CD.
Try passing ide=nodma to the kernel.

Set up the gnemul directory correctly (see fairly recent posts about
that) and just load the `solaris' module.
I doubt that's going to help much with the x86 card, though.
It is a SUN manufactured card that houses an Intel CPU

Another opption would be recompile the kernel and put cs4231 into the
kernel, I mean, constructed in the kernel, not as a module, then in
sound opption you leave without marks.
Antonio.
PS: I work in an UltraSparc 30. I'm using the kernel version 2.4.19 and
everything is working fine. Any doubsts

Neither did I. I have enough systems sitting around to justify this waste.

Hi Ben, yes I have tried the string you give below (on a CD burnt at
4x) and I get the Fast MMU Miss error just after it says initializing
RAMdisk prior to loading the kernel. So the only way I can get the
kernel to boot at all is with your netiso image.
I was on a much older version of the

On testing, it compiles ok (compiling it trough the source package). Are
you using debian's source package?

Why do you need to compile it with gcc 3.0?

I was on a much older version of the OBP and couldn't get anything to
boot, went to the newest, can at least boot now. Does anyone have a
suggestion for what version of the OBP I should be using?
When you downloaded the patch, there were 2 versions on it. Just don't
use the latest.

Legend! That did it, I can now actually boot bcollins netiso image.
Still cant boot the debian install cd (cant find clock timer).
Next thing; has anyone had any success getting the kernel to recognise a
Sun Swift card (thats a pci card with a 10/100 NIC and SCSI); I have an
