some sort of regression here. Yeah I was trying to determine why it was

Hello,
I'd like to install the Debian 3.0 (Woody) SPARC distribution on an
UltraSPARC architecture (Sun4u) instead of existing Solaris. The engine
model is SUN Blade, and the Debian installation becomes well when booting on
bought CDROM under /BOOT/sparc64 file.

Wouldn't matter if you did. This just disabled kmod, which is not
enabled anyway on sparc.

Hi,
I've just installed woody on my Ultra1 - it is a headless machine and
thus I did the install over serial; here are a few comments that I
hope are useful (I considered submitting these to boot-floppies bugs -

exports. I changed nothing from this morning, when it wasn't working at
all.
/etc/hosts in the server only lists localhost and the server's IP and
hostname. The client lists localhost, the client, and the server.

ok boot net nfsroot=192.168.1.42:/mount/nfs/nfsroot/goober ip=192.168.1.50
even specifying ALL the options to ip= and adding root=/dev/nfs to the
boot paramaters.

Maybe I got the boot args wrong. I was going by the diskless HOWTO, and I
had it working at one point in time.
RARP on boot server points to the uncompressed a.out kernel image
(compiled elf2aout on i386) and the kernels do boot to the point where
they can't mount root FS on 00.00

This works very well, with one caveat. Slink comes with kernel 2.2.1
and you won't be able to upgrade to potato (the installer complains
that you need at least kernel 2.2.7)
