Gnome is a desktop environment. It is not a window manager. KDE is not
one either. It includes kwm -- that is the window manager. These two
projects are about a unified look and feel, as well as a programming
standard to help coders. gnome does not have any one particular window
manager

If you pick the mbr, say goodbye to your win95 bootloader, because lilo
will overwrite the win95 bootloader (you won't be able to boot win95).
