ghostview and the family (gv, kghostview) show a horrible dithering and it
takes forever to display even simple images. On the other hand, the
windows' version of the same thing (GSview) takes just a few seconds and
displays in full color (16 or 24 bit, whatever the current depth is).

xterm-debian. It fails with the message "Error initializing terminal." and
leaves the terminal in a broken state (staircase effect with prompt, no echo

Thanks Mark, since you pointed me in the right direction I eventually found
it in /etc/apache.
Now to edit it and then add a DNS server.
