gracias a todo por vuestra ayuda, os doy mas info que me hace pensar que dd no está hecho para eso. cuando lo intento hacer el disco esta vacio, sin particiones para poder escribir bien, tabla de particiones nueva, y no funciona pero si uso una simple iso dde zorin o de ubuntu y uso la utilidad

Bearing in mind I rarely do installs and when I do usually let the installer do its thing. Got a PC that has SSD and a HDD. I see that you are supposed to avoid writes to SSD for longevity. Is it a matter of putting entries in fstab for /swap /var /home to suitably formatted partitions on HDD ?
