when I run /usr/bin/sol, I get this error:
guile: Could not find slib/require.scm in ("/usr/share/guile/site"
"/usr/share/guile/1.2" "/usr/share/guile" ".")
anybody know how to fix this/where to find require.scm ?
(the contents search on www.debian.org seems to be down...)

If anyone out there likes XScreenSaver, I've got a pretty cool hack you
can try out. I ported it from the svgalib program razzle, and it really
shines as a screen saver, I think.
It draws animated stereoscopic abstract designs (the kind where you hafta
cross your eyes...), with color-cycling. It

Okay, I've got a strange problem here. I'm trying to build a .deb, using
the devscripts tools and dpkg-dev...
I get a utmp error when I try to build:
<
$ build
no utmp entry available, using value of LOGNAME ("brad") at
/usr/lib/dpkg/controllib.pl line 16.

Hi, I've got hamm system running now, and utmp seems to be completely
screwed up. I've already done this:
cd /var/log
mv wtmp wtmp.libc5
touch wtmp
cd /var/run
cp /dev/null utmp
and rebooted, but it's still broken.
can anyone tell me where to look for clues?
I got the same problem with xemacs19. I believe it was fixed by
installing libcompfaceg1. It appears there is a dependency here which is
not accounted for in the control file.
xemacs19 and xemacs20 both list a dependency for libcompface1 (the libc5
version) perhaps that is wrong, and they should

I assume you're using the "old" doom floating aroung the net, rather than
the debian packaged version from hamm... in that case, what I believe you
need is the aout-svgalib package (available in bo)
this is because that version of doom was compiled a *long* time ago.

according to the gpm info file, I need the file t-mouse.el to be able to
use my mouse in emacs while on the console.

when i try to start x i get the following errors:
$ startx
xauth: can't load library 'libXmu.so.6'
xinit: can't load library 'libXmu.so.6'
what exactly does it mean by 'can't load library' - because:
$ ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Nov 19 15:04
/usr/X11
if i want a printed version of the documentation for e.g. libc, gdb, or
gcc, do i have to download the original source package and make it from
the texinfo source files? what's the most straightforward way of doing
this? is there a reason we don't want to distribute this documentation in

if you have SVGATextMode installed, executing 'stm' will do it.

how do i get a vc or an xterm to recognize and print vt100 print
sequences?
this is what i want to be able to do, in a nutshell:
my.debian.machine% rsh other.debian.machine vtprint foo.txt
thus causing foo.txt to be printed on the printer which is physically
connected to "my.debian.machine"
"my.
