Besides using "xntp", you can simply put an "rdate " command
in the appropriate place. If you use PPP, this would be /etc/ppp/ip-up .
That would set the time whever connecting to the PPP server.
If you have an Ethernet, you can call it from a script in /etc/rc2.d .

Oh, now I have a guess at what is going wrong. Invoke "unset noglob" and
see if the csh problem gets better. Then you'll have to figure out what
is setting it. It is generally set while running "tset" because the
termcap strings sometimes contain shell metacharacters
If you really want to echo an asterisk, use:
echo '*'
If you want to echo the list of files in the current directory, use:
echo *
If the current directory is empty, you will get the "no match" message.
Is that what is happening?

tcsh:
setenv LD_PRELOAD /usr/lib/libgnumalloc.so.5
If that fixes the problem, there's a malloc bug in the program and the
new allocator we're using makes the bug show up instead of being silent.

PPP put configuration files in /etc/ppp, and "man pppd" (that's the
PPP server, or "daemon") will tell you about them.
Thanks

There are still known problems (see the bug list on our FTP site), so
this is for people who won't perish if they install a buggy package that
takes down their system. As always, make backups.

the computer wasn't up to running it. Hopefully GNUstep will catch on.
I hope we can straighten out the compiler issues and have good GNUstep
support on Debian.

I'm sorry that Qt has that messed-up license. It does severely restrict
its usefulness.
A good substitute for "Qt" can be found in the "vx" package in
"unstable". It's another C++ GUI package.

There seems to be a bad AlterNet link between master.debian.org and Pixar.
This might mess up mailing list service until they get it working.

Did your PPP server on the other end change? Perhaps it isn't handling
compressed packets correctly. Try adding -vj and -bsdcomp flags, and see
if it improves.

By the way, this should not become a continuing discussion on debian-user.
It should go to debian-talk (is there still a debian-talk?) or one of the
Linux newsgroups.
