week. Implementing a raid has forced me to rebuild the archives for
both Debian and GNU. Hopefully this should be done soon. (If someone
can provide a faster rsync mirror than ftp.debian.org it will help)

kernel? If so '/proc/scsi' and '/proc/scsi/aic7xxx' should exist.

Your system should most likely be supported; howerver, it sounds as if you
have a bad floppy. I would download the latest disks (kernel 2.0.29 I
believe) and try writing them to new/different disks. I have had this
problem before and the above procedure solved this for me.

I have encountered this same error before. You will have to recompile
your kernel - Make sure you include support for PCI BIOS and APM (Advanced
Power Management). Doing this resolved all my errors.

I don't know if this works under Linux, but under Solaris we (egr)
have used dump to do this. I would try using dump of a filesystem
to another filesystem. I'm no authority on this... so please

What kind of errors does make/gcc report when you try to compile?
Don't forget you need to have APM (Advanced Power Management) and
PCI support compiled into your kernel... without them you will get
'unresolved symbol' errors.

There are serveral... I use the mpg123 package because I'm not much into
the hassle of click and poke.
You can search for it at http://www.debian.org/packages.html. I'm sure
you will find others there too.

Have you looked in your ~/.netscape direcotry for a file named
'lock'?? If it exists, quit your netscape applications and
rm ~/.netscape/lock and then restart. Sometimes netscape
will be improperly shut down and not remove its lockfile.

Actually libXm.so.0 is also supplied by lesstif, the GNU motif libs,
which can be downloaded from a debian ftp site. It is under the 'libs'
dir... and a hell of a lot cheaper than the price listed below.

the gateway once, just so it will switch... because one time I
rebooted my machine remotely from home, and then could not connect
to my machine at work! (hate when that happens)
Adding the ping fixes this problem, and have had no problems with it.
