SS> Has anyone gotten wvdial to work with static IP? ISDN?
What's the problem with fixed IP on a dial-up? Is your ISDN treated like
a modem? (I know nothing about ISDN) If so you could try editing the
/etc/wvdial.conf file and put the correct init strings in there

Have you tried the package wvdial that is in _some_ of the Debian
distributions? (Certainly in frozen).
Very easy to configure and it seems to work. IMO the ppp stuff is a
nightmare - before finding wvdial I had ended up with a one-line script
with all my ppp options in it as I couldn't get ppp

It needs, for some reason Netbeui & NWLink bound to the Dial-up
Grab any Perl packages that are outstanding by FTP and then install
those using dpkg - that should fix it.
I had the same problem when upgrading.

Right.
On my system the dpkg --help seems to come out on the wrong console. For
instance if I do a dpkg --help | less then less doesn't seem to come
into the picture at all.
To check this out I did dpkg --help 2> dpkg.txt and all the help came
out in the file.
Is this correct behaviour or am I miss
Can anyone enlighten me as to how to use a HP Colorado 5GB Internal IDE
tape drive under Linux?
I have had a look at various packages that come with Debian, but so far
I haven't been able to work out how to get it to work.
If there's a HOWTO somewhere then I'd be happy to be pointed in the

Thanks for all you folks who replied to me regarding an off-line news

I d/led slrn and configured it, but as a couple of you suspected it
_doesn't_ support d/l of just headers and the picking of interesting

I couldn't agree with you more Fred. I thoroughly enjoy Linux, but I

Problem is that you couldn't stop mis-posting, so you'd end up with
people posting twice, once in the newbies group and once in the
experienced group "just in case nobody in the newbies group knows the
answer", so you'd en
