Acredito que se as estações desktop com GUI não seja necessário escrever diretamente no arquivo e sim usar o utilitário de gerenciamento de conexões, por exemplo networkmanager, pois usando diretamente no arquivo suponho q dê algum conflito... Mas não seria melhor setar diretamente no servidor
