As for speeding up the bootprocess:
# aptitude install dash
# dpkg-reconfigure dash # let it take over the /bin/sh link
That saved me 1s.
# aptitude install insserv
# dpkg-reconfigure insserv
That *cost* me 2s (i.e., 2s longer to boot).

Gandi in France (http://www.gandi.net) offers Debian Xen hosting

Hi,
After a recent upgrade of Sid I notice that xpdf -fullscreen no longer
fills the entire screen like it used to. Instead, it fills my

Any suggestions for how to make my pdf documents fill the

I wrote to the list a couple months ago about my ThinkPad T22 freezing up from

fixes a bug in the S3 driver that causes freezing during scrolling.
Hi,
Sorry for the OT post but I didn't know where else to turn.
I'm looking for inexpensive web hosting to host my personal web site. I would
also like access to an nntp server to read a few newsgroups in the comp and sci

I'm running Sid on a Thinkpad T22 with Herbert Xu's 2.6.5-1-686 kernel (more

Hi,
Lately I've been weaning myself away from all software in contrib and non-free.
One contrib package I used to run was setiathome.
I'm wondering if there's a distributed computing project out there that's worthy
of my spare cycles and 100% free?
I know about distributed-net but it's in
