To Boot or not to Boot, that's the question. [WD1270 Caviar]
Hello,
this is in /etc/init.d/netstd_init
test -f /usr/sbin/routed || exit 0
that causes to exit if routed exists; shouldn't be there
test -x /usr/sbin/routed exit 0
?

- A long long time ago my root account mysteriously switched to using vi
- command-line editing instead of the default emacs, and I've been too
- lazy to get around to fixing it until now I guess. Where is this
- behavior configured?
hmmm use bash or tcsh as your shell

Where do you
' together with some 'scsi*.o' stuff. Why isn't the
- module auto loader taking care of this?
the loader doesn't work when you intall new modules into
/lib/modules/version directory. you must add them manually or restart
kernel.

- Might not be the best way, but better than just allowing root access from
- anywhere (suicide).
- Of course you could always login as another user and then 'su -' to root.
That's the preferred way by 9 of 10 sysadmins ;-)

The box said 'Requires Windows 95 or better', so I bought a Macintosh.
line; he needs \n at the end of line;
joe does NOT add it by default (it can be defined in joers and I think that
should eb the default in debian's joerc)
vi does.

Linux IS user friendly, it's just selective who its friends are...
can getpeername() and do
hosts.allow/deny searching; btw, tcpd doesn't accept(); it's inetd who does
and passes the socket to tcpd as stdin/stdout
