If this is Gnome you may have to select a higgher resolution under
System Administration -> Display first and the you can set in in the
user preferences. This was the experience I had when trying to do the
same thing. It seems that the higher resolution has to be enabled by
globally first.

Weird I just did some playing and Galeon will still do AA using the
MS-Core fonts its just stuff like Nimbus that no longer display in AA.

I would check the modules availabe for yout kernel. I am not sure if the 2.2.x
kernels in Woody have support for this card. I am sure I saw it in the list
of modules for my 2.4.x kernel though. Try modconf and browse the modules.

If I remember correctly you havent done anything wrong. You have to
delete something in the .kde directory sometimes to make flash work once
installed, unfortunately I cant for the life of me remember which file
to delete but I am sure someone will tell you :)

It compiles OK without ifaddrs.h however it hangs on startup.
The sniffer I am trying to compile is ettercap-0.3.1.
I just checked all the build stuff after it wouldnt start up (it nags trying
to arp everything on the local LAN).
