Well, I'm going to say 2.4.17 anyway...
Yesterday, I compiled a 2.4 kernel for the first time. I went for 2.4.16
because I thought it was better for vmware.
It failed to compile even before I got to the pcmcia source. The message
wasn't exactly what you got; it was from the linker. Unresolved or
I need the pcmcia module to get access to my ethernet card and cdrom, but I
just can't get pcmcia-source to compile. I've tried to do it with woody and
sid, but I just can't seem to get my pcmcia module to compile. I get
warnings about how malloc.h is deprecated throughout the entire process, but

I'm trying to setup a wireless LAN system on a system running Debian
testing, and am compiling the 2.4.7 kernel sources (which I can do fine).
I'm also trying to compile the pcmcia sources and am running in to a
problem. I'm using the kernel-package mechanism of compiling the kernel
and pcmcia sour
I want to compile the pcmcia-source package. The documentation says the
kernel source must be configured (make config dep). It seems to require a
self compiled kernel, but I don't want to compile a kernel. I just want to
compile the pcmcia modules for my 2.2.18pre21 kernel, because I need the

I've just tried compiling pcmcia-source 3.1.22 using make-kpkg but it
fails, telling me:
