So pulseaudio is provided by pipewire-pulse. Configuration is in

pulseaudio itself would remove critical components from GNOME - not a
good idea.

Audio standard is now pipewire. Ensure you have pipewire-pulse installed
to serve pulseaudio to applications needing it.

Yes it is [1] and it's still running on my machine after upgrading to
Bookworm. (I run the LXDE desktop.)
