I was the one with the ES1371 problems, I tried to start from scratch by compiling 2.4.16 myself and now my soundcard works fine. Only difference seems to be that I now have an audio codec module loaded, didn't have that under 2.2.18. I don't have a /dev/input directory, am I missing a package?

I'm switching to 2.4 to try and sort out some other problems (with sound). Under 2.2.18 my Intellimouse explorer would work with GPM, from what I gather the usbmouse driver would translate everything into a standard PS/2 format because gpm.conf was still using /dev/psaux and everything worked
