I have just installed Nautilus, and I get the following:

This probably means that your gnome-vfs.keys file is in the wrong place
or isn't being found for some other reason.
What's the problem?

I take it, in theory, I should have been able to so
apt-get install nautilus
and it'd install that package, plus all necessary X server and library
files? Needless to say it didn't :)

In Nautilus 1.0.6 in unstable I only have a choice of 1 smooth font -
Helvetica. Why is this? At work under RH62 I have access to all of the
scaled fonts X has, so why do I only have one here? I have about 50 TTF
fonts installed.

I installed on an old Toshiba laptop the Debian Etch system.
The windowmanager is icewm and I want to use the nautilus with it.
I try to edit the ~/.xinitrc :
exec /usr/X11R6/bin/icewm
exec /usr/X11R6/bin/nautilus
I make .xinitrc executable.
Still the nautilus want not to run
I'm trying to move over to spacefm from nautilus because it automounts
my usb drives and kindle, but I've hit a snag. I occasionally need to
mount a partition via shfs of my website on a remote server, but I cant
see how to do that in spacefm. Can anyone help me please?

I dont know if its how I installed Debian Woody, but Nautilus will not

How do you relogin to an SMB domain in Nautilus? Once I tried to log in
to a machine in a domain, and then I disregard it (ie: not entering
user/password). When I retried to access the machine, Nautilus didn't
redisplay the login dialog box.

You can just use a standard Debian installation (i.e. you do

kindle appear when plugged in but need to be manually mounted, but I
can live with that.
Have you looked at udisks-glue?
udisks-glue is useful for automatically mounting removable devices or
running arbitrary commands.

Just double clicking on an folder icon takes so long. And, if I run
nautilus from teminal, I noticed that it printed something like
"/bin/sh: esd: command not found".

I don't know what causes that error, but it's not
what stopping Nautilus.
If you check, you'll probably see that you get that
error with a lot of programs.

My nautilus is always freezed after gnome startup: I have to kill it, and then
it works. But sometimes, maybe once a day, it freezes again. I did not

Nautilus won't start when gnome starts leaving the desktop blank.
Firing up nautlius in terminal isn't able to start it either. Nautilus

What are your needs? I mostly use the shell. If I need some simple file
browsing, I use either Emacs dired mode, or something simple like dfs or
gentoo.

using sawfish with gnome. Nautilus drew some nice icons with sym-links.

Nautilus is broken once again on my machine. I use latest unstable.
When I launch it, it just doesn't display anything (either launched from a
terminal or from gnome menu).
If there is no ~/.nautilus/first-time-flag file, then it shows the wirzard
and hangs.
The whole story is tha
I would believe that it's running as your desktop, which would show up
as a Nautilus process (if you're using Gnome at least).
